The recent release of Sam Buckingham’s new album ‘The Water’ is firmly cementing her position as one of Australia’s finest folk troubadours. An audio journal of sorts, Buckingham penned the majority of songs on an 18 month sojourn through Latin America, distilling an ambitious pilgrimage into songs that confront fear, convey heartache and celebrate desire and
devotion. There’s an underlying message of hope and redemption as Buckingham sings of washing sorrow in the water, setting down old baggage and building a life of meaning. Her launch tours sold out shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne and Buckingham continues to earn accolades from fans and industry – including being awarded finalist status in the International Songwriting Competition with the albums second single ‘Living in the Dark’.
