An exciting new festival has been launched in the Northern Rivers… The O’Heart Festival is a three day, conscious living, indie folk music event, held throughout the Tyalgum Village from the 25th, through to Sunday 27th August, finishing with a Garden Show.
The official opening of the festival will be at 9am with a procession of the bells walk either side of the street (make sure you bring your percussion instruments). The procession will start at the old Norco butter factory and go all the way up to the Tyalgum Community Hall for welcome to country by Mleeka Heart from the Midginbul Cultural Centre, followed by representatives of the council and Natascha Wernick from Creative Caldera.
There are some very high profile workshop instructors and teachers within the areas of Sustainability, Holistic Wellness and Environmentalism who we are looking forward to welcoming to O’Heart Festival this year. Workshop presenters include internationally acclaimed singer and actor Michael Cormick who will be giving special workshops in Sound Healing, as well as presentations by Sonam Rigzin, special translator for the Gyoto Monks of Tibet.
The Raison D’etre of the Festival is to educate people to conscious awareness, through a variety of events and activities that enliven the mind, body and spirit. There will be education around sustainability, and eco awareness, organic food growing, yoga and meditation, sound healing workshops, beekeeping and alternative wellness presentations, environmental movie screenings and stalls. And of course, music on a variety of stages throughout the village all weekend. There will be handmade arts and crafts stalls, alternative health and energy stalls at the Tyalgum Hall on the Saturday, as well as through the village along the main street businesses and the grounds of Celestial Dew Guest House. The Tyalgum Energy Project will have an interactive pop up in the new courtyard next to the Tyalgum General Store.
The Festival will end on Sunday with a special Sounds til Sundown Garden Concert, which will include Tyalgum’s very own Indie Folk band “The Heart Collectors”. This will be held Tyalgum’s beautiful The Garden of Light from 12pm – 4:30pm”
